Brain Barry-Murphy- The 40-year-old is currently in caretaker charge of Rochdale and is an option. The former midfielder was their first-team coach under Keith Hill. If he does well during his spell in charge could he bag the full-time job?

Darrell Clarke- The 41-year-old departed fellow third tier side Bristol Rovers in December and is in the hunt for a new job. He is a highly-rated young boss but it could prove hard for Rochdale to lure him to Spotland.

Kevin Nolan– The former West Ham United and Newcastle United midfielder has been linked with a lot of jobs this season but is still without a club. He has managed Leyton Orient and most recently Notts County.
