Luton Town are in the hunt for a replacement for Nathan Jones, who has left them to join Stoke City. Here are five potential candidates to replace him-
Michael Appleton- He has emerged as an early frontrunner for the vacant job. The former Portsmouth, Blackpool, Blackburn Rovers and Oxford United manager has been available since leaving his role as Leicester City’s assistant manager in June.
Mark Warburton- The 56-year-old is an option for the Hatters. He guided Brentford to promotion from League One in 2014 and also won promotion with Rangers to the Scottish Premier League in 2015. His most recent managerial spell with Nottingham Forest didn’t work out but he deserves another job.
Paul Hurst- He was sacked by Ipswich Town in October after a poor start to the season. Hurst, who has also previously managed Boston United and Grimsby Town, did an impressive job in the third tier with Shrewsbury Town last season. Could Luton hand him a route back into the game?
Darren Ferguson- The son of Sir Alex is available after departing Doncaster Rovers at the end of last season. He got them promoted from League Two in 2017. Ferguson has also won promotion from League One in the past with Peterborough United so knows what it takes to get out of this league.
Simon Grayson- Could Luton turn to the League One promotion specialist? The 49-year-old has won promotion from this level on four occasions with Blackpool, Leeds United, Huddersfield Town and Preston North End.
